The House With The Pink Door Home Design

The House With The Pink Door
Colorful Coastal Series Home Design #CC03
Home Design
Growing up in Newfoundland I was surrounded by rugged coastlines
dotted with tiny homes painted in the most eye-catching colours.
Large families were often raised in these compact homes
with great pride taken in their individuality.

Inspired by Newfoundland folk architecture, I have married the historic charm
of these tiny colourful Newfoundland homes, with fresh contemporary interiors,
in this selection of unique home designs called
"Colorful Coastal Series".

These homes offer clean lines and practical designs
that are uncomplicated and economical to build.
The small footprints make them perfect for those seeking an
environmentally friendly and low-impact home.

All of my artistic designs are meticulously planned
to maximize usable space and offer unique features
often found in larger homes - such as multiple bathrooms,
open concept kitchens and practical mudrooms.
Home Designs
If you've ever been to Newfoundland, you know that if you ask for directions
you'll be given a description rather than coordinates,
that's one of the many things that make us unique.
No doubt if someone was looking for your address living in this home,
your neighbors would say:
"just go down there until you see the house with the pink door".

With the floorplan modeled after our own saltbox home "Squires Cottage",
in a biscuit box design this unique small footprint home offers you
everything you need for rural living,
including a wood stove, generous size mudroom,
plenty of storage and a huge basement pantry.

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home and this home takes that literal.
With the main floor boasting a central kitchen, bright windows
and easy access to the garden, you can be sure that most of your time
will be spent gathered in the kitchen of this home.

This is a perfect home for those who need separate spaces to relax and work.
A semi-open concept home with separate living areas
for those who need independent places.

The little front porch and historical biscuit box style give this home plenty of charm.
The large bright widows allow for beautiful views
and a sunny interior drawing in the natural light.
The interior feels extremely spacious and has plenty of storage for a home of this size.

The main floor boasts a large mudroom with walk-in closet,
bath with shower and laundry for easy clean-up after spending a great day in the garden.
The walk-through kitchen with central eating nook encompasses
the main floor for those who love to cook, harvest and dine,
the kitchen is truly the heart of this home.

The deep window ledges and sunny front porch are perfect for growing fresh herbs and plants.
There is plenty of room for full-sized dining or a quiet lounging area just beyond the kitchen.

A generous sized main floor den with bath access can easily become a study,
guest room, studio or extension of the living room.
A cathedral ceiling and unique triangular window hovers over the dining area.

On the second floor, there is a bright and spacious master bedroom with
walk-in closet, a second large bedroom, full bath and sitting area.

The full 8' basement has an additional family room, second laundry and full bath perfect for guests,
as well as a utility room, huge pantry, office and plenty of storage.

With a small footprint, simple economical design
and all the features of a much larger home . . .
this house has it all.
Just imagine yourself coming home to the little house with the pink door.
(Door color can be whatever vibrant color suits your style)
